Fatal Affair (Dir. Netflix, 2020)

The film starred Omar Epps and Nia Long as Ellie Green, a woman who attempts to repair her marriage after a tryst with an old flame, David Hammond, who she encounters after a night on the town. Things go awry after she realizes her ex-lover is more unstable than she thought. In the present, Ellie is a successful lawyer who is helping her husband Marcus (Stephen Bishop) recover after a car accident.

We get to see inside of David's life after he goes to a therapist for court ordered anger management due to an incident with another woman. He does the typical things to Ellie such as asking her why she isn't returning her calls and getting stalked by him, which during a scene he is caught watching Ellie and her husband have sex. I wish they would've been more creative with how David unfolded as I felt it was cliche and his mask slipped too early.

I knew the film was going to be quite predictable and riddled with cliches by the trailer, but I wanted it to be more entertaining. It felt like a Lifetime movie but with better camera work and a slightly bigger budget. Two good actors I felt were gone to waste, as they say a good actor cannot save a bad script.

I didn't get any action until the film was practically over. Overall, I would rate this a 6 out of 10.
